About MathSense

Founded in 2009 with 8 students and one conviction: math is not difficult — it's just untaught.

Our Mission

Math is not difficult.
It's just untaught.

Every child who says “I am bad at maths” has encountered a gap — a concept skipped, rushed, or explained in a way that didn't connect. MathSense exists to find that gap and fill it, permanently.

We teach mathematics the way mathematicians think — starting with why, building through understanding, arriving at how. We don't hand out formulas. We build the intuition that makes formulas obvious.

Concept-First, Always
We build foundations before formulas. Students who understand the reasoning behind a result never forget it.
No Student Gets Left Behind
Small batches mean every doubt is addressed before the next class. If a student didn't understand, that's a teaching problem — not a learning problem.
Language Is Never a Barrier
Bilingual Bengali and English instruction — switching based on which makes the concept clearest for each student.
We Teach for Love, Not Fear
Fear of math is learned. So is love of math. The goal isn't just marks — it's students who genuinely enjoy mathematics.

Our Journey

From one tuition desk to India's toppers

Sixteen years of teaching mathematics — from one-to-one tutoring and the Kota JEE crucible, through Kolkata's classrooms and Ramakrishna Mission Narendrapur, to a live online academy for Class 1–12. One conviction has carried through it all: get the foundation right, and the results follow.

2007 · Where It Began
The First Classroom Was a Screen
Long before online tutoring became mainstream, Suvadip Shome was already teaching American students one-on-one in mathematics while still an engineering undergraduate. The philosophy that would define everything later was already clear: explain the why before the how.
2009 · The Crossroads
An Engineer Who Chose the Blackboard
After completing B.Tech, he joined Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) as a Management Trainee. Just three months later, he made a life-changing decision — leaving a prestigious corporate career to pursue mathematics teaching full-time.
2009 – 2014 · The Kota Years
Forged in India's Toughest Coaching Ecosystem
Five transformative years in Kota, Rajasthan — India's JEE capital — teaching at one of the nation's most reputed institutes. This period shaped deep expertise in competition mathematics and IIT-level problem solving.
2014 · The Homecoming
Shome Sir Maths Begins in Kolkata
Returning to Kolkata, he launched Shome Sir Maths. Over the next decade, the institute became a trusted name among parents and students, producing multiple IITians and several All India Rank holders within the top 600.
2016 · The Institution Years
Ramakrishna Mission, Narendrapur
Alongside flagship batches in Gariahat and Behala, he spent more than four years teaching at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur, refining a teaching system equally effective for board examinations and Olympiad preparation.
2020 – 2022 · The Great Pause
When the World Stopped, the Thinking Started
The pandemic disrupted classrooms everywhere. During this period, difficult personal circumstances and deep reflection led to a fundamental question: why do bright students continue to struggle in mathematics competitions?
2023 · The Diagnosis
Fixing the Foundation Nobody Checks
A year of intensive research revealed the root cause — weak primary and middle-school fundamentals silently limit future success. The solution wasn't harder problems, but a stronger roadmap beginning from Class 1 itself.
2024 · The Online Leap
A Live Classroom for Class 1–12
In August 2024, teaching moved fully online. Students from Classes 1–12 began learning through a unified curriculum integrating CBSE, ICSE and WBBSE boards with competition tracks including VVM, NMTC, IOQM and JEE.
2026 · The Results Speak
Rank 1s, Full Marks & National Selections
The new methodology delivered exceptional outcomes. Adhya Avirath ranked 1st in VVM, all 10 Class 10 CBSE students scored full marks in Mathematics, 50+ students cleared VVM Level 1, 7 qualified for IOQM 2025, and 3 students became state-board toppers in Class 12.
June 2026 · Official Launch
MathSense Academy Goes Live
MathSense Academy officially launches at mathsenseacademy.in with 150+ students already learning through its concept-first approach. Sixteen years of experience have culminated in a single mission: 'অঙ্ক শিখবে সহজ ভাবে' — Mathematics made simple.
